A Little Remembering

Gentle Friends, today would have been my parent's 62nd Wedding anniversary, and my mom always said it was a rainy, wet day.... here by the Bay it's cool and foggy.......

May 22, 1955
1st Presbyterian Church, Greenville NC

I like to remember the event with some flowers at Chrurch and arranged for some to be put on the altar yesterday...

...they were nice and pink,(my mom's favorite color) and by tomorrow will be spectacular when all the lilies finally open up....

.. on either side of the Tabernacle were some pink azaleas...
my mom would have really enjoyed all these flowers!!

A Little Devil

Gentle Friends, knowing me and reading this Blog you may recall my fondness for Converse Chucks.... and every now and then I get a catalog from Journeys and they often have fun versions of Converse sneakers.....  so from the latest one, I ordered....

..... and they came in a great box,.....

... som Tasmanian Devil All-Star Chucks!!  I can usually refrain from new shoes (I've got far too many now) but I just had to have these!!
... aren't they great!!

A Little Frida

Gentle Friends, the last few weeks have been slim pickins' on the thrifting front and I've been finding next to nothing out and about in the shops..... I did find this past weekend a great piece...

"Between two Curtains 1937"

It's a purse made from a cigar box and covered in prints of paintings by Frida Kahlo with extra bits of rick rack and small paste jewels...

"Self-Portrait Dedicated to Dr. Eloesser 1940"

Each side excluding the top and bottom has a different self-portrait or a detail from a portrait...

 "The Two Fridas"

The clasp and handle I think came from a craft shop ...

 "Self Portrait with loose Hair"

... and the interior is lined with a green velvet....

... I love the quote ... " I Never paint dreams or nightmares.  I paint my own reality... Frida Kahlo"

Whoever made this piece spent quite a bit of time putting everything together and I think it is a super box - for a couple of dollars, it was a real bargain!!

That's about it for today sports fans, thanks again for stopping by do stop again!!

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I've been stitching and frogging away on Anniversaries for the past few days...
here's a snap...

... I was much further along until things starting to fall apart and started to not line up..... then I started to look back and count and eventually I found I was off 1 stitch way, way back.  So instead of just fudging it along, I decided to just frog it all out.  It would have made me crazy with things off a by a stitch.

A Little Thrifting

Gentle friends, I'm off a day with my posts, but thems the breaks sometimes...  last Saturday morning we headed over to the Treasure Island Flea Market, which only happens on the last weekend of the month.  I'd never gone before but had always wanted to ...

... looking down the road at the booths...

... looking across the Bay towards Oakland and Berkeley

... there are lots of food choices...

... it was a really bright and sunny day and leaving I took this picture of the city....

and going back into the City across the Bay Bridge I got this shot...

... I saw quite a few things I wanted but only came home with this super iron skillet, a number 10 that's about 11 3/4" in diameter, I've got to clean it up and reseason it and it'll be good to go!!

There you sports fans, that about wraps up the week.  Thanks again for stopping by do stop again!!

A Little Dinner

Gentle Friends, over the weekend Rico was visiting his family in the Central Valley and I stayed home and dealt with the who hounds.... I did a couple of fun things with some friends.... one was to go out to dinner....

.... so Saturday evening we headed to a fun restaurant in the Castro called  Kitchen Story.... its an Asian Fusion restaurant with some very tasty food selections....

We were first sat sort of in the middle and I got this shot off of the bar....

...  then they moved us to a better table nearer the front, but the light was very harsh with evening setting in...  and the photos reflect that harshness

... we started off with a delicious tempura calamari...

... for the main course Mike and I each had a "Sexy Aloha" - which is yellow curried rice, shrimps, raisins and pineapple all served up in a hollowed out pineapple, then John had...

...grilled teriyaki salmon with a cucumber salad... for desert they had...

...banana cake with caramelized bananas...

... and a warm chocolate lava cake....  I had a nice cappuccino and was perfectly happy!!  It was a fun day capped off with a super evening!!
